Description

A little New Game Plus treatment for one of my favorite final boss themes ever! I think the synth bassline sounds a bit like the Lavos final battle from Chrono Trigger~

And the whole "irrelevancy" of Necron could be explained away:
Necron shares a few similarities with Exdeath, with the two being related to trees in some way, and both wanting to revert everything to nothingness. Their battle music have similar musical motifs, and both are the same shade of blue and they also share an attack name, Grand Cross. Necron also shares many similarities with the Cloud of Darkness, both of whom are the final bosses of their game revealed only at the climax, both are summoned by someone fearing his mortality and both are created to revert the world back to nothing. Before fighting Necron Zidane's party members are also revived by the non fighting playable characters similar to how the Warriors of Light were revived by Unei and Doga. -Final Fantasy Wiki

Final Fantasy has a rich cyclical history, constantly alluding to previous entries in the series, so I'm okay with this explanation.

Nobuo Uematsu claims this to be his favorite overall soundtrack that he's made. So uh, the original music was made by him, obviously.
Rodie-The-Nightblade enters Trance, and unleashes Shift Break on Tidus. Oh, and he made this arrangement.

Maybe so, but even the Cloud of Darkness made more sense than Necron, since you'd actually dealt with some kind of cloud of darkness earlier in the game.
